Famous Characters in Literature
কিছু বিখ্যাত সাহিত্য কর্মের চরিত্র নিচে দেয়া হলো:
(1) কিং লিয়ার (King Lear) নাটকের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চরিত্রগুলো হলো-
- LEAR, king of Britain
- Goneril, Regan, Cordelia-Three daughters to King Lear
- King of France, husband of Coredelia
- Earl of Gloucester
- Edgar, son of Gloucester
- Edmund, illegitimate son to Glucester
- Fool, a jester to the court of King Lear but a wise person.
বাংলা সাহিত্যে দ্বিজেন্দ্রলাল রায়ের লেখা শাজাহান নাটকের দিলদার নামক চরিত্র কিং লিয়ার নাটকের Fool নামক চরিত্রের সাথে অনেক মিল রয়েছে। দুজনই যে ডায়ালগ পেশ করে সেগুলো খুবই রসিক টাইপের কিন্তু বুদ্ধিদীপ্ত।
(2) রোমিও এন্ড জুলিয়েট নাটকের পুরো নাম কী? আমি বলতে চাচ্ছি নাট্যকারের দেয়া নাম। The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet'
নাটকের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চরিত্রগুলো হলো-

(3) The Tragedy of Hamlet-Prince of Denmark -গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চরিত্রগুলো
- The Ghost হেমলেটের বাবা King Hamlet এর প্রেতাত্মা। বাবা ও ছেলের একই নাম ছিল।
- Hamlet ডেনমার্কের রাজপুত্র। জার্মানির উইটেনবার্গে পড়াশুনা করতো। অসাধারণ তার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গী জীবনের প্রতি।
- Claudius- হেমলেটের চাচা। হেমলেটের বাবাকে মেরে সে পরবর্তীতে রাজা হয় এবং হেমলেটের মা গেরটুডকে বিয়ে করে।
- Gertrude -হেমলেটের মা।
- Horatio-হেমলেটের সহপাঠী এবং সবচাইতে বিশ্বস্ত বন্ধু। মৃত্যুর সময় তাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে হেমলেট অসাধারণ ডায়ালগ দেয়। টি.এস.এলিয়ট এই ডায়ালগটিকে খুবই পছন্দ করতেন।

(4) Macbeth-নাটকের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চরিত্রগুলো হলো-
- Macbeth-ম্যাকবেথ হচ্ছে এই নাটকের প্রধান চরিত্র। তিনি স্কটল্যান্ডের প্রধান সেনাপতি। পরবর্তীতে তিনি রাজা ডানকানকে হত্যা করে অবৈধভাবে রাজা হন।
- Lady Macbeth-ম্যাকবেথের স্ত্রী। তার অতি লোভের কারণেই ম্যাকবেথ ধ্বংস হয়।
- Duncan-স্কটল্যান্ডের রাজা। তাকে হত্যা করে ম্যাকবেথ অবৈধভাবে রাজা হন।
- Banquo-স্কটল্যান্ডের একজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তি।
- Macduff-স্কটল্যান্ডের একজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তি।
- Witches-এই নাটকে তিনজন ডাইনি থাকে যাদের চাতুর্যপূর্ণ কথায় ম্যাকবেথ বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে আস্তে আস্তে ধ্বংসের দিকে যায়।
(5) Othello' or The Moor of Venice
- Othello-এই নাটকের প্রধান চরিত্র। তিনি কালো ছিলেন তবে অত্যন্ত সাহসী যোদ্ধা ছিলেন। ভেনিসের একজন জেনারেল ছিলেন।
- Desdemona-ওথেলো নাটকের প্রথমদিকেই তাকে বিয়ে করে। তিনি নাটকের নায়িকা। অত্যন্ত সুন্দরী ছিলেন।
- Cassio-ওথেলোর লেফটেন্যান্ট।
- Iago-ওথেলোর বিশ্বস্ত সহচর। নাটকের ইতিহাসে এত খারাপ চরিত্র আর পাওয়া যায় না।
- Duke of Venice-ভেনিসের প্রধান।
